Body found on I-40 in 1985 identified
The State Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the skeletal remains of a woman who was found in Haywood County in 1985.
With the help of DNA matching, authorities discovered the body was that of Priscilla Ann Blevins, who disappeared from her Charlotte home July 7, 1975. She was 26-years-old when she went missing.
On March 29, 1985, an employee with Blyth Construction was working at mile marker 8 on Interstate 40 when he discovered human skeletal remains 54 inches from the guardrail, said Det. Bruce Warren with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office.
At that time, detectives from the State Bureau of Investigation were called in to investigate the case along with the sheriff’s office, but there were never any leads and the case eventually turned cold, Warren said.
