Bohemian Jean’s Jessi Stone has a penchant for selecting covers that suit her soulful alto voice like hits from Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Patsy Cline, and Carly Simon. Singer-songwriter Matthew Welborn complements his wife’s sultry voice with rich harmonies, also adding his own fun covers and original music to the mix. The duo began singing together shortly after meeting and falling in love in high school. They have a natural chemistry that shines through as they perform the music they love.
On Saturday, October 26, the Fall for Jazz series continues with the Wendy Jones Quartet featuring vocalist Wendy Jones, Steve Davidowski, piano; Zack Page, bass; and, Rick Dilling, drums. Tickets are $39.99 per person and include a specially prepared four-course dinner. Call 828-452-6000 to reserve your table.
Wendy Jones performs energetic and entertaining cool, bop, and post bop standards. She has appeared in professional theatres in Chicago, south Florida, and North Carolina. After holding extensive auditions in North America, Europe, and Australia, Tokyo Disney selected Jones as one of only nine singers for its Broadway review ENCORE! After a three-year tour of Japan, Ms. Jones returned to the North Carolina mountains to focus on her solo singing career.
Jones received her B.M. and an M.M. in vocal performance from Appalachian State University, then joined the faculty where she taught voice for eight years before embarking on a full-time, professional singing and acting career.
