"Booze it & Lose it" starts today
The Governor's Highway Safety Program is kicking off its annual "Booze it and Lose it" Labor Day campaign across the state starting this weekend.
The campaign begins Friday, Aug. 17 and continues through Monday, Sept. 3.
Officers will be stepping up patrols and conducting additional checkpoints in an effort to cut down on drinking and driving, especially during the holiday weekend.
Officers charged more than 2,900 North Carolina motorists with driving while impaired during last year's campaign.
For more information regarding “Booze It & Lose It” activities, contact GHSP Assistant Director Don Nail at (919) 733-3083, or visit the GHSP website.
