ASHEVILLE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Haywood County will be hosting its annual fundraiser, Bowl For Kids’ Sake, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at West Asheville’s Sky Lanes bowling alley, 1477 Patton Ave., Asheville

Bowl For Kids’ Sake is the year’s largest fundraiser for BBBS Haywood. To participate, team captains enlist bowlers who will raise a minimum of $50 in donations from friends, family and co-workers.

Corporate sponsorships have been secured to cover the cost of event production so that every dollar raised by bowlers themselves will go directly to supporting programming for local youths who need a caring mentor.

Big Brothers Big Sisters connects youth facing adversity with caring mentors who believe in them. “Bigs” help their “Littles” to succeed in school, heighten self-confidence and avoid risky behaviors.

Each year the signature event invites participants to dress up according to the annual theme. The theme for 2017 is “Favorite Book Character.” Costumes are optional. Though team registration is at capacity for the year, all are invited to come out, show their support and join in the fun.
