Loving Son and Brother
CANTON — Matthew Brannon Worley, 34, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2014.
Brannon was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a 1997 graduate of Pisgah High School. He received his associate degree in phlebotomy from Haywood Community College and had been employed by the American Red Cross and the Plasma Center in Asheville.
He was an avid swimmer, a talented creative writer and rock collector. Brannon was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church and especially enjoyed reading his Bible and was known as a true Bible scholar. He will be dearly missed by all his family and everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Leroy Worley and Patricia Smathers Worley, of Canton; brothers, Stephen Worley and wife, Tammy, of Canton, Lawrence Dwayne Worley and wife, Kelly, of Pendleton, Indiana, and Gregory Fain Worley and Lisa James, of Fines Creek; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his dog, Brutus, Brannon’s protector and best friend.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Beaverdam Baptist Church. The Revs. Gene Worley and Jimmy Trantham will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
