'British Invasion' comes to WCU
CULLOWHEE — Shannon Thompson and Bradley Martin, faculty members in the Western Carolina University School of Music, will present “British Invasion,” an evening of 20th century music for clarinet and piano, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the Coulter Building recital hall on the WCU campus.
Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.
Thompson, on clarinet, and Martin, on piano, will perform a sonata by Arnold Bax; Paul Reade’s “Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden,” a 1980s television series from the BBC2; Alec Templeton’s jazz-influenced “Pocket Size Sonata No. 1”; and Geoffrey Bush’s “Tributes” to musicians Artie Shaw, Darius Milhaud, Erik Satie, Harold Arlen and Joseph Horovitz.
