Calling all leaders
Waynesville — Those who have been part of the Leadership Haywood effort for the past two decades are invited to participate in a Leadership Alumni effort where ideas can be turned into action.
Sutton Katz, an alumnus of the 2016 leadership program, started a conversation with fellow graduates about staying connected, and the idea morphed into coming together with others who had previously been through the course. The hope is that through networking and becoming better acquainted, the group, or several small groups, can find ways to take action to address community concerns.
Leadership Haywood is a program where participants learn about the inner workings within the county and use their knowledge to make a difference. Class members meet with prominent civic, business and government leaders to get an intensive look into the social, economical and political dynamics of the community.
The alumni gathering will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27 at the Inn at Tranquility Farm, 1804 Camp Branch Road in Waynesville.
Katz said beverages and light refreshments will be served.
“There will be informal networking, but I’m definitely hoping conversation moves in terms of a group project,” Katz said. “That’s where I’d like to head. This is about getting everybody together, getting them excited and building from there.”
All those who have been part of any of the Leadership Haywood classes, even before they were sponsored through the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, are invited to the gathering.
