Loving Son and Brother
WAYNESVILLE — Calvin Ray Russell, 55, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Louise Hunter Russell and the late Charles Safford Russell. He retired from Canton Hardwood with 32 years service as a forester. Calvin loved the Lord and was a member of Camp Branch Free Will Baptist Church. He had a heart of gold and enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with his family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Marion Russell of Waynesville; a sister, Elva Woody and her husband, Claude, of Waynesville; a brother Albert Russell of Waynesville; one grandson; a very special aunt, Ruth Hunter Finger, whom he adored; a special friend, Bonnie Sutton; several nieces and nephews and Calvin’s special dog, “Molly.”
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
