Camping ends but education is going strong at Roots

Aug 18, 2014

Roots in Education’s Summer Camp at Lake Junaluska recently wrapped up a fun-filled, learning-rich summer. Campers went on a variety of field trips to the Biltmore House, Oconaluftee Indian Village, Cowee Gem Mine, Cataloochee Valley, as well as the Waynesville’s Farmers Market and Francis Grist Mill.

In addition to the field trips, campers completed units of study in Owl Pallets, rocket building and launching, local foods and nutritional learning, and many other engaging activities.

As school resumes, Roots will continue to provide children with a place to be academically supported and nurtured in a quality after-school program. Roots will be offering transportation from Hazelwood Elementary, Central Elementary, Clyde Elementary, Lake Junaluska Elementary, Waynesville Middle schools.
