It was a blustery weekend with below average temperatures, rain and even a little ice. But a little bad weather couldn't bring four local cops down — from a roof, that is.

Deputy Daniel Blagg from the Haywood County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Tim O'Niell from the Waynesville Police Department, Det. Shawn Gaddis from the Canton Police Department and Det. Archie Shuler from the Maggie Valley Police Department all camped out on top of the former Belk building in Waynesville over the weekend as a fundraiser for Special Olympics.

Over the weekend, people were able to stop by and donate to the cause by placing money in a bucket, which the cops collected by pulling it up to the roof by a rope. In a preliminary count, about $11,000 was donated over the weekend.

It's the second year Blagg has organized the event, and he hopes to see even better results next year.
