Canton Lions award scholarships

The Canton Lions Club awarded two $1000 scholarships to Pisgah High School students at its annual scholarship dinner Tuesday, April 23.

MaKayla Tipton, daughter of James and Kelly Tipton, and a member of the PHS Leo Club, received the Al Cline Scholarship and will attend East Tennessee University in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Christina Franklin, also a member of the PHS Leo Club, and daughter of Russ and Teresa McLamb, received the Bill Churm Scholarship and will attend Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Stephanie Morgan, faculty advisor for the Pisgah Leo Club, presented the scholarships on behalf of the Canton Lions Club. The Leo Club is a student service organization sponsored by the Canton Lions Club.  The Pisgah Club is the largest in the state of North Carolina, with more than 100 members.
