The Canton Lions Club has long been a service leader in the community.  Recently, at the district award ceremony in Shelby, the Canton Lions club was recognized with several prestigious awards.

The club was recognized for having the greatest membership growth for the 2013-14 calendar year.  This could not have been achieved without every Canton Lion, however, the club would like to specifically recognize Ryan Jacobson, Adam Bridges, Stephanie Morgan and Max Bumgardner for their leadership in the area.

Club member John Dobbins received the William L. Woolard Partner in Service Award. This award was established to recognize exemplary service provided by a Lion member.  Since all Lions serve their community and the Lions Club is the largest service organization in the world, this as an amazing achievement.

Bumgardner was recognized as the Lion of the Year.  This is one of the highest awards a Lion can receive and it is the first time that someone from Canton has received this award.

The Canton Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Sid’s on Main, Canton.  The only exceptions to this meeting schedule is in the summer and during holidays; during the summer, the club will meet at various locations, such as Al Cline’s camp by the river and in Asheville.
