A Canton man has pled guilty to attempted robbery with a deadly weapon.

Dustin Surrett, 26, gave the court his guilty plea last week, which mitigated his sentence drastically.

Surrett was originally charged with far more severe crimes, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, after the shooting of a Clyde man when he and two others attempted to rob him at gunpoint.

Surrett will spend between six and eight years in prison.
