The Town of Canton is hosting a Spring cleanup day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 2 and town leaders are urging the community to participate.

"The goal of this is to get the employees out in the downtown from their normal rigamarole to build some unity and to address some outstanding cleanliness and beautification issues in our downtown," said Town Manager Seth Hendler-Voss.

Another goal is for the town to have fellowship with the community. There will be several different "low skill" projects to do that day, he said, including cleaning windows, replacing dying shrubs, planting flowers, pressure washing awnings, painting the flag pole and more.

Those who would like to participate in the cleanup day can show up at the Town Hall that morning and will be assigned to a work team based on their interests. There will be work teams out from 8 a.m. to noon and then another group of teams out from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a cookout from noon to 1 p.m.
