The evening skies will sparkle with fireworks in downtown Canton on Saturday, July 5 as the town celebrates the Fourth of July holiday.

Champion Credit Union will once again sponsor the fireworks for Canton’s hometown celebration. This event will be held at Sorrells Park in downtown Canton. The decision to have the celebration on Saturday evening will give the opportunity for greater family attendance and will extend the July 4 celebration throughout the county.

The “July 4th Plus 1” event will offer a variety of fun for the entire family.  The Music Explosion will be providing a great variety of music for the street dance. Several games and contests are scheduled for the children to enjoy.

Grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, popcorn, fresh squeezed lemonade will be available for purchase or pack your own picnic basket and enjoy the fun. Free watermelon will be provided for everyone by Mayor Mike Ray.

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at Sorrells Park located on Park Street. Bring your lawn chairs and find a perfect spot to enjoy the majestic fireworks that will begin at dusk.

“The fireworks display was outstanding last year and I am so grateful to Mike Clayton and Champion Credit Union for making this special commitment to our community for this holiday celebration. Community events are what makes Canton a true hometown,” Ray said.
