Canton's Fourth of July celebration is July 5
“July 4th Plus 1,” Canton’s Fourth of July celebration, will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Sorrells Park, located on Park Street, Canton. The decision to have the celebration on Saturday evening will give the opportunity for greater family attendance and will also not cause a conflict with other events held throughout the county.
The “July 4th Plus 1" event will offer a variety of fun events for the entire family. The Music Explosion will be provide a great variety of music for street dancing, and there are several special events and games are planned for the children.
There will also be grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, popcorn, fresh squeezed lemonade and other treats for sale, or bring a picnic and enjoy the fun. Free watermelon will be provided by Mayor Mike Ray.
Bring a lawn chairs and find a perfect spot to enjoy the fireworks that will begin at dusk.
"The fireworks display was outstanding last year and I am so grateful to Mike Clayton and Champion Credit Union for making this special commitment to our community for this holiday celebration," said Ray. "Community events like this are what make Canton a true hometown."
Sponsors for the event are Champion Credit Union who will provide fireworks, and Mike and Sherry Ray from Crawford/Ray Funeral Home.
