Caregiver training to be offered July 17

Jun 28, 2012

The Senior Resource Center of Haywood County will offer caregiver training in two sessions Tuesday, July 17, the first at 10 a.m., and the second at 2 p.m., at 81 Elmwood Way, in Waynesville

The first session will instruct potential employees on caregiving basics, interview skills, etc.  The afternoon session will instruct family caregivers on how to conduct an interview, what to look for in a potential employee, how to find the right fit for one’s family, etc.

The classes are for those interested in obtaining work as a care provider, caring for a loved one, or families that want to hire someone but don’t know how to go about it. Both these classes cover material that is fundamental to the caregiving process.

The Senior Resource Center maintains a caregiver list.  Those looking for employment as a care provider can pay for a background check.  If the check returns “clean,” the individual’s name will be placed on the list.  Families seeking someone to help in their home can request the list and feel more secure knowing they will be interviewing individuals who have cleared a criminal background check.

Call 452-2370 to register for the training sessions or to inquire about the list.
