A support group has formed to access resources and provide caregivers an opportunity to share feelings and lessons learned in the role as caregiver.

The group meets on the last Tuesday of each month, at 1 p.m. at 81 Elmwood Way (off Russ Avenue) in Waynesville. Short-term and long-term caregivers are welcome.

At the Tuesday, Feb. 26 meeting, the topic will be how to find time for yourself by enlisting help for your loved one by using the Senior Companion Program or the Sitter's List. Patsy Weaver, Senior Resource Center will speak about Senior Companions and Yvonne Gold, Senior Resource Center will speak about the Sitter's List. Suzanne Hendrix will talk about the Phone Assurance program at the Senior Resource Center. This program gives you a daily phone call, 7 days a week.

Not only will you know that your phone will ring and what time it will ring but it will give you the knowledge of knowing that someone will spend time talking with you about things that matter to you.

Call 452-2370 for information or directions. The “Caregivers Unite” support group is sponsored by SENIOR RESOURCE CENTER of Haywood County and MEDWEST HEALTH SYSTEM Chaplaincy Service.
