Carlton “Bill” Buchanan

WAYNESVILLE — Carlton ‘Bill’ Buchanan, 70, of Waynesville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, surrounded by his family.
He was born November 25, 1942 to the late Dewey and Ethel Grasty Buchanan.
Bill was a member of the NC Polled Herford Association, He was retired from Wellco where he was past president of the Wellco Union. He was an ordained deacon at Grandview Baptist Church and a recent member of Balsam Baptist Church. Following Bill’s retirement from Wellco, he was known to many as the best ceramic tile man in Western North Carolina. He also devoted much of his life to raising registered Polled Herefords and had won several awards for his pure bred cows.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Pearl.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Peggy Buchanan; sister Eulah Stamey and her husband, Arthur, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13 in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Rev. Johnny Swanger officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.
