WAYNESVILLE — Carol Lee Booker, 85, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Lee County, Florida, and a resident of Haywood County since 1989. Carol lived her early years in Lakeland, Florida, and had many friends and relatives there.  She was the daughter of the late Russell Powell and Alice Powell Teater.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph William Rhodes and Harry Lee Booker Jr.; a son Sgt. James D. Rhodes, U.S. Army; and a brother, Paul A. Powell.

Carol attended Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a quilter and seamstress.

Carol is survived by a daughter, Amy Roberts (Tom); son, David Randy Rhodes, all of Waynesville; sister, Carrie Jane Gay (Warren), of Lakeland, Florida; brother, James A. Powell (Jenny), of North Port, Florida; three grandchildren, Patti Robinson (Anthony), Hunter Rhodes and Summer Elizabeth Rhodes; and a great-grandchild, Camden David Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim McConnell officiating. Private burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
