Carolina PCA Contributes $3500 to Sarge's
On Thursday, August 30th, David Butler, Area Director of the Carolinas Porsche Club of America (PCA), Mountain Area, presented a check to Gary Smith, President of the Board for Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation. With donations, onsite fundraising activities and the Carolinas PCA matching charitable donation, the event raised $3500 for Sarge’s.
This large donation was possible because of the success of ‘In Den Bergen’ (in the mountains), the Carolinas PCA People’s Choice Concours event held on August 11 at The Waynesville Inn Golf Resort and Spa. This year 74 Porsches were entered. Event registrants included PCA members from Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Sarge volunteers circulated with adoptable pets during the event and put on view its mini dog house collection box for donations. “This is the fourth year that the Carolinas PCA has promoted Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation at this event,” said Butler, event chairperson. “Sarge’s receives all proceeds from the raffle of donated items as well as donations received from the public and PCA entrants.” Carolinas PCA also contributed a separate donation.
“Sarge’s is very grateful to the Carolinas PCA, Mountain Area for raising this money to help with the expenses involved in the rescue of animals from the local shelter,” said Smith.”In August, Sarge’s adopted out 49 dogs and cats. This ties the record for the best August ever (set last year). Plus we transported 54 dogs to Northeast rescue shelters where they are more rapidly adopted. The donation will go a long way to provide needed medical treatment and fuel for transports.”
The primary Sponsor for ‘In Den Bergen’ 2012 was Harmony Motors in Asheville. Many other local businesses donated to the event which assisted fund raising efforts and made it possible for all raised funds to be donated to Sarge’s.
“Many of our PCA members are community leaders or volunteer in various capacities. The Carolinas PCA as an organization also looks for ways to give back to the community. Sarge’s has been our ‘In Den Bergen’ charity partner for four years. Their volunteers and staff are a pleasure to work with, and their participation adds to the IDB event. It’s a pleasure to present Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation a check to support the services they provide,” said Butler.
