CANTON — Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother

Carolyn Rebecca Ball Jones, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, 74, of Allen Dr. in the Stamey Cove community, entered into the arms of the angels Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Mrs. Jones was born March 3, 1939, in Buncombe County to the late Emmett Ball and the late Robbie Meece Ball.  Carolyn grew up in West Asheville and later met the love of her life, John Jones and they began their life together in 1960.  Their life journey led them to Washington D.C., Virginia, Myrtle Beach  and Lenoir.  Carolyn and John made their way back in 2002 to their beloved mountains of Western North Carolina to make their home in Haywood County.  Carolyn was a devoted member of Canton First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Goodson Sunday school class.  She was an avid reader and had also served as a librarian at Canton First Baptist Church.  Carolyn could often be found walking and running at Lake Junaluska; she also enjoyed swimming.  A proud accomplishment for Carolyn was running and completing the Maggie Valley Moonlight Race and the Charleston Half-Marathon.

Everyone blessed to know Carolyn loved her. To quote her son, “She was the sweetest and nicest lady you would ever meet and she would do anything in the world for anyone.”  Carolyn Jones was indeed a lady of strong faith, a lady who loved her family deeply, and a lady who was a true friend to everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Carroll Ball and an infant brother, Tommy Ball.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, John H. Jones; her  children,  Pam Jones Kearse and her husband, Bobby Kearse of Canton, Patrick Jones and his wife, Seana Jones of Fairview, and Phyllis Jones Lineberry and her husband, Todd Lineberry of Greenville, North Carolina;  six grandchildren ; two great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Emily Pinkston.

The Jones family would like to extend their love and gratitude to the staff of Silver Bluff Village for the special care given to Carolyn and also to the entire family.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Dick Maples officiating.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service.

Crawford/Ray Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Jones family and words of comfort may be shared at
