Carolyn L. Stroupe
“1932 – 2012”
CANTON — Carolyn Lowe Stroupe, 80, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Med-West Haywood.
A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Willie Arrington Lowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill Ray Stroupe, who died in 1964; a son, Terry Stroupe, one sister, Sandra Kelly; and one brother, Herman Lowe, Jr. Carolyn worked as a licensed practical nurse at Haywood County and Haywood Regional Medical Center for 26 years and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross since 1994 and the Asheville area LPN Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl S. Guffey; one son, Billy Stroupe and his wife, Linda, of Balsam; three sisters, Shirley Whitt of Candler, Patricia Devlin of Morristown, Tennessee, and Judy Lowe of Clyde; one brother, Kenneth Lowe of Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack W. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service.
