Carroll D. Haney
1940 — 2014
CANTON — Carroll Dale Haney was born April 15, 1940, and at age 74, was released from his body and this world to join his Savior and awaiting loved ones in heaven Monday, April 28, 2014.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of Lillie Parks Haney and Amos Haney. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kelly Haney Pace; and infant brother, Charles A. Haney. Carroll graduated from Bethel High School in 1958 and received his B.S. degree in business from Western Carolina University in 1969. He retired from BASF in 1993 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a past master of Sonoma Masonic Lodge #472 AF&AM, and past president of Pisgah High School Activities Committee. He was an avid fisherman and bird hunter and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Carroll is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Riddle Haney; a son, Kevin and wife, Judy, of Swannanoa; grandchildren, Shaley Haney Holmes, and husband, Cameron, of Weaverville, Savannah Haney, of Swannanoa, Samuel and Jonah Pace, of Canton; a great-grandchild soon to be born, Ty Elijah Holmes; two sisters, Doris Chambers, and husband, O.C., of Canton, and Hilda Hollingsworth, and husband, Mark, of Waynesville; two brothers, Gerald Haney, and wife, Trixie, of Candler and Harry Neal Haney, and wife, Cheryl, of Bryson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
