CANTON — Alvin Carroll Donaldson, 84, of the Stamey Cove community, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late James Weaver and Minnie Seagle Donaldson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Mease and Dorothy Huckeby. Carroll will be remembered for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family. He was a talented wood craftsman and builder. Carroll retired from Champion International with 38 years of service and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice Neal Donaldson; one daughter, Sandy Reece, and her husband, Keith, of Canton; one son, Danny Donaldson, and his wife, Shari, of White House, Tennessee; two sisters, Wanda Mohler, of Forest City, and “special sister,” Darlene Gregg, of Canton; four brothers, Harold Donaldson, of Canton, Wayne Donaldson, of Waynesville, Weaver and Dean Donaldson, both of Canton; two grandchildren, Tammy Donaldson and Anthony Donaldson, and his wife, Jill; one great-grandchild, Jacob Payne; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at Spring Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Clark and Matthew Rhea officiating.
