Carroll 'Fat' Eugene Stepp

CLYDE — Carroll “Fat” Eugene Stepp, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, March 21, 2014, at The Homestead. Carroll was born June 7, 1931, to the late Jake and Nettie Burress Stepp. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, going to the deer camp, and spending time with his family. Carroll loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served the NC 211th Military Police during the first Gulf War. Carroll was of the Baptist faith and was a true Christian.

In addition to his parents, Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Reldia Lura Stepp; three brothers, Ed, Fred, and Robert Stepp; and his sister, Alice Phillips.

Carroll is survived by his son, Tony Stepp and his wife, Harolene; two brothers, Earl and Freddie Stepp, of Oregon; two grandsons, Timothy Stepp, and his friend, Marsha, and her son, Jaden, and Jason Stepp and his fiancee, Julie; his great-grandson, Patrick Stepp; two brothers-in-law, Billy Rogers, and wife, Ann, and Jhue Rogers, and friend, Barbara; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Revs. Phillip Wyatt, Gary Putnam and Marvin Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at the residence.
