CANTON – Carroll Washington Scott, 85, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at his residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Rev.  Irvin and Maude Roberts Scott.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome and Burder Scott; and two sisters, Juanita Worley and Marilyn Worley.  He retired from Champion International with 44 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was chairman of the building and grounds committee.  Carroll enjoyed carpentry, fishing and hunting, and gardening.  He also enjoyed cooking at the Labor Day activities for Rocky Face Baptist Church.
