'Cataloochee' documentary is available

The documentary "Cataloochee' a history of the farming community that thrived in Haywood County before the area became part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is now available for sale.

"We, the Cataloochee Committee, want to express our sincere thanks to the Haywood County Historical and Genealogical Society for making the funds available for this DVD," said local author and committee member Hattie Caldwell Davis. "Our purpose for this documentary is to preserve the history of Cataloochee and restoration and maintenance of the existing buildings for future generations to enjoy."

The DVDs can be purchased at Blue Ridge Books on Main Street in Waynesville; Teagues on Dellwood Road in Maggie Valley and Diamond & Gold Exchange on Main Street in Waynesville.

The DVDs can also be ordered directly from the Haywood County Historical and Genealogical Society at P.O. Box 444, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The cost is $20 plus tax. If ordered by mail, make checks for $24 to cover shipping and handling. Donations are also accepted.
