Cedar Hill presents free art demos

"Winter Wonderful" continues at Cedar Hill Studio, in downtown Waynesville. Take a look at the artists who will be demonstrating their wonderful talent through their unique art form for your enjoyment.

Nick DePaolo will be giving demonstrations in oil painting from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 23, Feb. 20, March 6 and March 20 at Cedar Hill Studio. He also is conducting an oil painting workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Haywood County Arts Council, Gallery 86, on Main St. in Waynesville.

It will be a follow-along and everyone will work on the same painting with emphasis on techniques so students can use the learned techniques to create their own work.Call the Arts Council for your seat at 828-452-0593. He is also scheduled to begin a children's class for local home-schooled children at Gallery 86 on a regular basis.

Chris Amsler, a metal-smith who lives works and plays in Waynesville, will be offering a free jewelry and metalsmithing demonstration from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at Cedar Hill Studio in downtown Waynesville.

He has been creating original jewelry using gemstones gold and sterling silver for 19 years and has shown and sold his work in Hawaii, California and the Carolinas. A 26-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he has travelled the world and takes his inspiration from his life experience as well as the beautiful natural surroundings of the Western North Carolina Mountains.
