Waynesville - The Music and Drama Ministries of First Baptist Church will present “Celebrate Life” on Palm Sunday, April 13 at the 11:00am Worship Service in the sanctuary. “Celebrate Life” is an outstanding musical and dramatic collaboration between Buryl Red and Ragan Coutney and was released in 1972. Countless thousands have been influenced by this musical drama. Composer Buryl Red has been credited with paving the way for contemporary artists like Chris Tomlin and modern worship.
The Life of Christ is revealed through music and drama beginning with Jesus’s birth, his ministry, his death, and his resurrection. The musical numbers and the drama are closely intertwined as our four gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, share more of the Christ story through their diaologue between musical numbers. Their parts are being played by Daniel Atwood, Matt Wells, Jacob Hunt, and Brian Woods respectively. The musical numbers feature the Sanctuary Choir and several soloists, supported by the Instrumental Ensemble.
The community is encouraged to include “Celebrate Life” as a part of the 2014 Lenten journey on Palm Sunday at the 11:00am Worship Service. First Baptist Church, Waynesville is located at 100 South Main Street. For more information, call the church office at 456-9465.
