Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather
WAYNESVILLE — Charles Edward Fowler, 82, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at The Homestead, in Clyde. He was born in East Flat Rock, Aug. 19, 1930, to the late George Wilford and Gladys Vera Condrey Fowler. Charles was a produce manager for 25 years at Winn Dixie and for the last 10 years until his retirement, he was involved with school maintenance for the Haywood County School System. He served as a Boy Scout leader for several years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton. He also enjoyed carpentry, painting, hunting, and fishing. He had a great love for his family, especially his wife, children and his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, George W. Fowler, and sister-in-law, Frances Stepp, and her husband, Gene.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Anne Revis Fowler; son, Steven (Linda) Fowler, of Nebo; three daughters, Pam (Richard) Campbell, of Canton, Penny (Roger) Holcombe, of Canton, and Cheryl (Steve Melton) Fowler, of Fairview; a sister, Brenda (Kenneth) Case, of Hendersonville; sister-in-law, Nancy Lou (Fred) Mason, of Foley, Alabama; grandchildren, Anne Campbell, Adam Campbell, Anthony Fowler and Charles Bass Melton; and step-great-grandchildren, Austin, Martin and Zachary.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Rev. Jay Meadows officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 1:30to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
