Charlie D. Sims
MURPHY— Charlie D. Sims, 60, of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Murphy, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012. He was a native of Cherokee County, but had lived in Haywood County for several years before moving back in 1999. Charlie was a 1974 graduate of Western Carolina University. He was a homebuilder and in 1990, he became owner and operator of TEPC Company, a fuel equipment service company. Charlie was of the Baptist faith.
He was the son of the late Cline D. and Ruby Mills Sims.
Surviving are his wife, Carol McRae Sims; two daughters, Charly Inman, and husband, Marty, of Canton, and Michelle Davis, and husband, Brian of Clyde; a step-daughter, Kristin Rodeck, and husband, Tommy of Andrews; a step-son, Jonathan Spradling, and wife, Julia of Andrews; a brother, Vinson Sims, and wife, Debbie of Murphy; and two grandsons, Hunter and Cadden Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. Interment will be in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Dickey, Danny Rich, Kevin Parker, Eric Mashburn, Russell Jillson, and Frank Leatherwood.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
