Cherokee heritage presentation is April 6
The Friends of the Library will present a program by Dr. Barbara Reimensnyder Duncan at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Haywood County Public Library, 678 S. Haywood St., in Waynesville.
Duncan is the education director at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian at Cherokee. She has a Ph.D in folklore and folklife from University of Pennsylvania and MA and BA in English from Bucknell University.
One of Duncan's books, "Living Stories of the Cherokee" is a collection of Cherokee stories, that received the Thomas Wolfe Literary Award and World Storytelling award. Another book, "The Cherokee Heritage Trails Guidebook" received the Preserve America Presidential Award.
