In July the residents at Haywood Lodge, Spicewood Cottages and Creekside Villas retirement homes took a day trip to Cherokee for some shopping, lunch and sightseeing.

On the way to Cherokee, the group made a stop at the fishpond to feed the fish and enjoy the sunshine.  The next stop was a barbecue picnic lunch at the park along the river in Cherokee to watch the people swimming and tubing. The next stop was a shopping trip in town. The last activity of the day was to take the bus through the drive-thru and order a round of Frostys for everybody. It was a fun day and the staff and residents at Haywood Lodge are looking forward to their trip in August to Cataloochee for a picnic.

The public is invited to visit the Haywood Lodge booth during Senior Day at the Haywood County Fair. Senior Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. Those who stop by will be treated to a free blood pressure check.

Nursing staff members will be available to take blood pressure and also to answer questions about assisted living options in Haywood County.

The booth, stocked with brochures, will be at the fair Aug 20-24 for anyone who would like to drop by for general information.

Visit or call 456-8365 for information.
