CLYDE — Cherria Mae Mackey Jenkins, 98, of Old Clyde Road, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013.
Mrs. Jenkins was born Oct. 22, 1914 in Haywood County to the late Edwin Lee Mackey and the late Lena Swanger Mackey.
She had made her home in Clyde all of her life and was a devoted homemaker. Mrs. Jenkins faith was an important part of her life and she had attended the Church of God at several locations throughout the community. She loved beautiful flowers and she was truly a talented artisan who enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Mrs. Jenkins was a wonderful cook and she always shared her delicious homemade dishes with friends and family that stopped by to visit. Cherria loved her family dearly and each of them will hold on to treasured memories of her forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Jenkins, who passed away in 1987; four brothers; and six sisters.
She is survived by her loving nieces, Iris Ensley and her husband, Bruce Ensley, of Canton and Sandra Mathews and her husband, Harold Mathews, of Clyde and several other nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The Rev. Bruce Cayton will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the graveside service.
