‘Chess Day’ observed Oct. 13

The Smoky Mountain Chess Club will promote ‘National Chess Day’ Saturday, Oct. 13, at Blue Ridge Books, 152 S. Main St., in Waynesville, which is one of the club’s two meeting locations.

The club will hold an all-day free chess day from 10 a.m. to 5p.m., with lessons, casual games and a short tournament. Beginners are welcome. For information, email chesscat772@yahoo.com.
