CLYDE — Mr. Claude Marvin "Buddy" Lay Sr., 79, of Clyde, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, passed away July 13, 2014, at his home. He was born in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Moses L. and Etta Meredith Lay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Jr., and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Lay served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict before moving to Detroit where he retired from GM. Upon retirement, he moved to Clyde and was a proud member of VFW Post 5202 in Waynesville.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Lay, of Curran, Michigan, Jimmy Lay, of Detroit; daughters, Marlene Eddy, of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, Wanda Hall, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Rita Barrios, of Detroit; sister, Wanda McCoy, of Clyde; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He will be laid to rest beside his son in Detroit.
