"Click it or Ticket" Anniversary Event
|Haywood Community College|
|May 29, 2013|
In 1993, North Carolina piloted the Click It or Ticket program in High Point, Haywood County and Elizabeth City. The program was aimed to increase seat belt and child safety use rates through stepped-up enforcement of the state's seat belt law. Today, nearly every law enforcement agency in the state participates in this lifesaving initiative and it has developed into one of the most intensive law enforcement efforts of its kind. North Carolina’s program was so successful that it serves as the model for the nation and many states have enacted Click It or Ticket as their state’s program to increase seatbelt use to reduce fatalities in their state.
In honor of this achievement, GHSP will return to the original three locations — Elizabeth City, High Point and Haywood County to have mini press events to bring awareness of the importance of seat belt use.
