Clyde fiddler brings home prizes from Georgia jamboree

A Haywood County musician took third place in a fiddlers’ competition in Georgia.

Mack Snoderly of Clyde, won the fiddlers’ competition on May 26, for the ages 51 and up category at the 1890s Day Jamboree Old Time Fiddlers Convention, held in Ringgold, Georgia. He also placed third in the competition for the Randall Franks Trophy and won $350.

In the fiddle off, he faced Johnny Ray Watts of Lineville, Alabama, winner of the 22-50 year-old category, who won for the third time, and Doug Fleener of Leitchfield, Kentucky, from the 16-21 year-old category, who placed second.
