CLYDE — Clyde Haynes, 81, of Fines Creek, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at The Homestead.
He was born in Hurricane Creek, Clyde, and was the son of the late John Thomas and Pearlie Trantham Haynes and was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Haynes; four brothers, Carl, Claude, Haskil and Thurman Haynes; and two sisters, Marie Smith and Pauline Kuhn. Clyde enjoyed picking bluegrass music with his friends. When he wasn’t playing music, you could find him fishing or hunting. He was a retired carpenter and also helped to build Interstate 40 through the gorge.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Kirkpatrick Haynes; and two daughters, Loretta Haynes, of Fines Creek, and Melinda Haynes, of Maggie Valley; a sister, Ruby Haney, of Salem, New Jersey; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial followed at Keenerville Cemetery in the Spring Creek community. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
