A Clyde resident will spend at least a year and a half in jail after pleading guilty to taking indecent liberties with a child in a recent session of Superior Court.

According to the police reports, Blake drove to Sylva to pick up two 14-year-old girls and brought them back to Canton. Blake later admitted to having sex with one of the girls.
Blake pleaded guilty to two counts felony indecent liberties with a child and was sentenced to 16 to 20 months active time in the North Carolina Department of Correction for the first charge.
For the second charge, Superior Court Judge Alan Thornburg suspended another 16 to 20 month sentence and ordered him to serve 60 months supervised probation following his first sentence.
He also pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, for which he was placed on supervised probation for 12 months and a suspended sentence of 45 days in the Haywood County Jail.
Pursuant to the plea, charges for statutory rape were dropped. Thornburg also ordered Blake have no contact with the victim.
