CMS splits with rival WMS on hardwoodDodgin’s 22 leads Black Bears; Glance’s 14 key to big win in girls' game
The hardwood rivalry continued between Waynesville Middle and Canton Middle Thursday evening.
In the second meeting of the season, the CMS boys edged the Mountaineers, 62-55, at Waynesville Middle, while the WMS girls soundly whipped Canton Middle, 37-13.
In their previous boys meeting, the Black Bears edged the Mountaineers, 62-56, while the Waynesville Middle girls defeated the Black Bears, 35-15.
For the CMS boys, Devin Dodgin scored a game-high 22 points, Max Wait scored 10 points, Trent Devlin chipped in eight, Scott and Roberts contributed five points each, while Levi Medford scored four and Clinton finished with two points.
For the WMS boys, Trent Turner led the team with 19 points, Nate Brafford chipped in 16, Max Reister scored nine points, Coleman Bryson contributed eight and Luke Williamson finished with three.
For the WMS girls, Gracie Glance pumped in a game-high 14 points, Myrissa Johnson scored 10 points, Kyleigh Trout chipped in five, Cooper Richardson contributed four points and Hannah Clark finished with two.
For the CMS girls, Ava Queen and Julianne Robertson shared team-high honors with four points each, Arlee Freeman and Maggie McCracken chipped in two points each and Kayla Mull scored one.
Weather permitting, Canton Middle will host Asheville Christian Academy today and Macon County Middle on Thursday.
Waynesville Middle will host Madison Middle today and Bethel Middle on Thursday.
