Commissioner candidates face off in forum
Three of the four candidates vying for Haywood County Commissioner squared off in a forum Tuesday, each vowing to bring more stability, jobs and quality of life to the county.
Incumbents Kevin Ensley and Mark Swanger and candidate Mike Treadway discussed their visions when it comes to the future of Haywood County, especially education, economic development, taxes and government spending. Candidate Denny King did not attend the forum. Swanger and Treadway are running on the Democratic ticket. Ensley and King are Republicans. Voters will select two board members this election.
“When it comes to Haywood County, I guess you could say I’m all in,” Ensley said in his opening statements. “I filed for office on the first hour of the first day and I want everyone to know I am a serious candidate.”
