The 80 voice Junaluska-Haywood Community Chorus will present a concert filled with the joy and delights of the season at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at First United Methodist Church, on South Haywood Street, in Waynesville.
The performance will consist of Daniel Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata,” Alfred Burt’s “Carols,” sections of Robert Russell Bennett’s “Carol Cantata” and John Rutter’s “I Wish you Christmas.”
The chorus director is David Traynham, with Cynthia Henderson as accompanist, along with the Signature Winds and a brass ensemble.
Everyone is invited to this free concert. Donations are accepted. Call 452-0156.

The Community Chorus was organized in 1997, sponsored by the Junaluskans, a civic organization of the residents and friends of the Assembly. During the early years the concerts were held in the Memorial Chapel. The Chorus invited all singers from the county to join, without auditions, so we outgrew the chapel space, and now give the concerts at the First United Methodist Church. On occasion, the choir has traveled to Charlotte and combined with other choirs for concerts.
The chorus is sponsored in part by The Junaluskans and the Haywood Arts Council through a Grassroots Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts.
