Community welcome to audition for 'Christmas Carol'
The Haywood Arts Regional Theater will hold open auditions for this year’s spectacular production of “A Christmas Carol” at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 and Monday, Oct. 28.
This is a great opportunity for families to get involved with HART onstage in roles large and small. HART’s “Christmas Carol” features elaborate costumes, sets and special effects. The production is being directed by Mark Jones who adapted the script and will feature an orchestra under the direction of Ann Rhymer Schwabland, who composed the original score.
There is a “carolers ensemble” who sing throughout, but there are numerous non-singing roles for all ages. Actors auditioning as professionals should come with a prepared monologue, head shot, resume. HART defines professional actors as those with professional credits elsewhere, and whose credits include major leading roles, or B.F.A., theater students at area universities.
Actors auditioning as volunteers will be asked to cold read from a provided script. Anyone interested in working backstage on the production is also encouraged to come by during auditions to sign up. Auditions will be held in the Feichter Studio of the HART Theatre, 250 Pigeon St. in Waynesville.
“A Christmas Carol” has performances at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 7, 13 and 14 and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 15 at the HART Theater, 250 Pigeon St. in Waynesville.
