Corn hole for a cause

Tourney to benefit BBBS
Sep 16, 2012

Coming up Saturday, Sept. 29, Headwaters Brewing Company will be hosting a Corn Hole Tournament to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Haywood County. The event, which is open to any two-person team 18 and older, will be from rom 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Corn hole is fun and easy, and anyone can play, even if he or she is brand new.   Kevin Sandefur, owner of Headwaters Brewing, understands the importance of mentoring a child as he has first hand experience in role modeling. He was a Big Brother through BBBS and spent years matched one on one with a child. The child is now grown up and will actually be at the fundraising event in support of BBBS. They have maintained a relationship and friendship long after the match ended with the organization.

The tourney's cost $40 for a two-person team. A $100 grand prize will be given to the winner, and there will also be second- and third-place team prize. There will be door prizes, free food donated by Coffee Cup Cafe, along with a 50/50 drawing, live entertainment and loads of fun. BBBS is also seeking local business sponsorship to help with the cause. Nathan Lowe of Waynesville is helping facilitate the event.
