County fair goes off 'without a hitch'
Although the exact numbers haven’t been tallied yet, the Haywood County Fair seems to have been a great success this year.
“From what I’ve been hearing from people, it was the best fair in recent history,” said Haywood County Fairgrounds board chairman Mary Ann Enloe. “I didn’t get any complaints, and the people just seemed happy.”
Sam Smith, a fairgrounds administrator, said attendance was estimated at 12,000 to 15,000 people — about the same as last year.
“We think the crowds were a little more consistent, and the weather was perfect. We only had one shower in seven days,” he said. “Last year and this year have been especially good experiences.”
