CWF to welcome the Browns Aug. 20
The Western North Carolina Christian Writer’s Fellowship August meeting will feature Snookie and Bernie Brown
Snookie and Bernie Brown will share some of their writings and compositions at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, during the next Western North Caroline Christian Writer’s Fellowship meeting at Long’s Chapel UMC.
Since retiring, Bernie has published four books — two of which were in collaboration with his wife, Snookie. The most recent is entitled “Road Signs on the Journey Home” and features road signs that Snookie photographed in four states during the course of a year. It includes 52 devotionals based on the Book of Proverbs.
Additionally, the session will include several songs composed by the couple. These have been used in various venues including worship services, workshops and retreats as well as in an album of spiritual and gospel selections.
Bernie is a retired healthcare executive. Snookie, in addition to been an accomplished accompanist, was a costumer for community theater productions for over 20 years. The Browns and their family have been visiting Western North Carolina for more than 30 years and purchased a vacation home at Lake Junaluska 14 years ago. They are affiliate members of Long’s Chapel UMC. They have been married for 52 years and have three children and eight grandchildren.
The Christian Writers Fellowship has been meeting for five years. The group gives encouragement to writers who want to focus on God's direction for their writing. All are welcome from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in room #210 at Long's Chapel UMC.
