CANTON — David "D.L." Lewis Williams, 68, of Rocky Branch Road, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Williams was born November 2, 1944 in Haywood County to the late John Williams and the late Lou Ella Singleton Williams. He had made his home in Haywood County all of his life and was employed as a logger in the timber industry and was also a heavy equipment operator, retiring from Tennocoa Construction Company. D.L. was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be remembered as a “good hearted person. He loved his family dearly and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of his life.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Doug Anderson Williams and also a brother.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Ida Valentine Williams; a daughter, Debbie Gean Parris and Richard Higdon of Waynesville; sons, David Lewis Williams II of the Newfound Community, Donnie Williams and Kim Williams of Bethel and Dee L Williams and Laura Williams of Bethel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Sunburst Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m.
