World War II Veteran
CANDLER — Mr. David Franks, 92, of Candler, and formerly of Clyde, passed away Dec. 30, 2012. He was born in Jackson County to the late James and Cora Pressley Franks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary Franks; brother, Daniel Franks; and sisters, Jessie Franks Inman and Madie Franks Oates. Mr. Franks served the country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a life member of Keith MeHaffey Disabled Veterans of Clyde.
Survivors include his nephew, Eddie Oates; nieces, Vieta Inman Heisler, Wanda Inman Rogers; and sister in law, Audrey Breedlove.
“Son of God, before whom all glories dim, when will be the last time I bow my head to pray? Sometimes we just aren’t meant to know, I think it best that way. Perhaps this is the last time that I shall write a poem, I know my days are numbered, ‘til God shall call me home.”
